Walking School Bus

  • A Walking School Bus is a great way for children to walk to and from school in a fun, safe way.  A Walking School Bus is a group of students, with adult supervision, walking along a set route between their homes and school.  Children can join a Walking School Bus along a route to and from school, near their homes, or they can be taken to a collection point, a “Bus Stop”, to commence the walk to school.  The Walking School Bus is accompanied by at least two trained volunteers.  A volunteer can be a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, or a community member interested in helping children get to school safely.

Schools with Walking School Buses in Lancaster School District include:

    Lincoln Elementary
    Mariposa Elementary
    Miller Elementary
    West Wind Elementary

If you are interested in joining a Walking School Bus or starting one at your school, contact your school's administrator or call Jenny Sampson, District Walking School Bus Coordinator, at 661-940-4355.
