• Mrs. Zapata Welcome to Joshua Elementary

    Home of the Jets!

Joshua is a school dedicated to equipping students to face the challenges of the 21st Century by developing their skills in critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration.  Our teachers are highly qualified and use differentiated instruction to ensure our students are learning.  We are an AVID-certified school and many of our teachers are attending or have attended training in GLAD, GAFE, and Common Core trainings through our district.

Joshua is undergoing modernization through the passage of Measure L. Currently, our district facilities department is working on offices and a communications center, with much more to come! We ensure safety at all times,  and we enjoy reinforcing our students who are showing wonderful behavior and improvement towards these high expectations!  We also use the wonderful Capture Kids Hearts (CKH) strategies to build teams and community within classrooms and around our school.

Parents: WE NEED YOU! Parents can volunteer through Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and the amazing WATCH D.O.G.S. Dads program. We believe it takes a village to raise a child and we are committed to ensure our students' success through our parent partnerships! After school events to support our teachers and students, such as, student store, food pantry, family dances, and holiday grahams are a bit of the magic that happens at Joshua with your SUPPORT!

On a personal note, I come from a family of educators.  My mother and father were educators for over 40 years.  I enjoy teaching and learning and I am passionate about making sure our students have the opportunity to succeed.  I have three children and I am a grandmother!  Our children are our FUTURE and with some commitment and hard work,  we can make this world a better place through our children's education.

Please join us for family events throughout the year to ensure you have the latest news! See you soon!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs Lorraine Zapata
