The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) leads the district’s efforts to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students. It is responsible for overseeing the selection and implementation of standards-aligned curriculum materials, supporting effective instruction and pedagogy, and advancing student achievement through coherent systems of support. The department coordinates professional development aligned to district and state goals, manages the district’s Instructional Coaching Program, and provides targeted support for foundational literacy and math skills as well as intervention. In collaboration with school sites, the department guides the work of Student Study Teams (SSTs) to address student needs and implements standards-based grading and reporting practices that reflect student learning. Additionally, the department oversees new teacher support through the Induction Program, ensuring a strong foundation for educator growth and retention.
Led by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, the department also includes a Coordinator of CIA, three subject-specific district instructional coaches (TOSAs), three educational technology coaches (TOSAs), the Induction Coordinator and an Induction Facilitator (TOSA), a certificated district librarian, two department secretaries, and a bilingual office assistant—all working collaboratively to support teaching and learning across the district.
