The Lancaster School District Early Learning program offers a developmentally appropriate, play based learning environment. Our program focuses on the “whole child” to address each child’s individual needs in the areas of cognition, social emotional, physical, and language to create independent thinkers and learners, ready for Kindergarten.
Meaningful Connections

Meaningful Connections

We teach foundational skills through a play based approach. We utilize the California State Preschool Learning Foundations and The California Preschool Curriculum Framework. Skill mastery is assessed through observation using Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).
Purposeful play

Purposeful play

We explicitly teach social emotional skills during play using Conscious Discipline brain states and Second Step curriculum. We recognize that our little learners will need support to navigate the early learning environment, through a whole-child approach, we support them as they are learning to share, play together, use their words, and recognize each other’s feelings. Teachers work alongside the children to foster this learning as children engage with each other throughout the day to prepare them for successful Kindergarten entry.
