Expanded Learning Opportunities Department

about

about

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) is designed to provide a safe, supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment for TK–8 students after school and during nine-hour non-school days. With caring adult supervision, mentorship, and guidance, students participate in meaningful programming that nurtures their academic, social, emotional, and physical development. These experiences are thoughtfully designed to complement and not replicate the regular school day, emphasizing hands-on and project-driven learning opportunities.

Our program aims to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build confidence through activities that are both fun and enriching. Students are encouraged to explore their interests, collaborate with peers, and develop essential life skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Our vision is to create opportunities in a dynamic, student-centered environment that is culturally relevant, academically rigorous, and deeply inclusive. We are committed to amplifying student voices and cultivating youth leadership, empowering students to take an active role in shaping the programs they participate in. Through authentic engagement, community partnerships, and continuous reflection, the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program creates an environment where every student is seen, heard, and inspired to thrive.

Expanding hearts and minds

Dear Lancaster Families,

Welcome to the 2025-206 school year! We are thrilled to launch another exciting year of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) across the Lancaster School District. Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are so glad you are part of our ELOP community.

ELOP is committed to providing students with a safe, supportive, and enriching environment beyond the regular school day. Our programs are designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and encourage personal growth through engaging activities such as STEM projects, arts, music, physical activites, academic support, and social-emotional learning.

We beleive strong partnerships between families, schools, and our program staff are key to student success. Together, we will ensure that every child has access to opportunities that inspire them to learn, lead, and thrive.

As we begin this new school year,, know that your child's safety, well-being, and growth are the heart of everything we do. We look forward to working with you to make this a year full of learning, discovery, and joy for our students.

Welcome to ELOP -- where after school is just the beginning!

Warm regards,
Erie Robertson | Director
