Attendance Communication
Not sure how many absences your student has this school year? Log in to PowerSchool, or call your student's school. You can use the school calendar above to track your student's attendance this school year.
Missing just 2 days of school each month, although it may not seem like a lot, adds up. 18 days of missed school equals 10% of learning lost, and this is considered chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism includes excused, unexcused and suspension absences.

Lancaster School District uses the Powerschool Unified Operations Attendance intervention Suite who sends communications on behalf of each school to keep families updated via postcards, emails, texts, and letters. We understand there are unavoidable illnesses and other times when your child should remain at home. We also know that any absence, excused or unexcused, means missed learning time that can negatively affect both your student and overall classroom learning.
WHAT FAMILIES WILL RECIEVE
- Monthly Attendance Postcards (email/text)
- Attendance letters on behalf of your school when absences reach attendance thresholds.
HOW TO VERY ABSENCES
- Please notify the school office by 10:00 am the day of the absence, or as soon as possible.
- Call the school.
- Send a written note.
- Send a ParentSquare message.
- Provide a doctor note- in person, with your student, or via ParentSquare.
- Provide a copy of a court letter for the day the student was required to be present.
- Verification= letting the school know why your student was absent. Otherwise, it does not automatically excuse the absence. Education Code 48205 guides what's excused.
