ABOUT

Safety is a priority and the Lancaster School District believes in continuous improvement so that students, staff, and parents are safe. We all have a role in school safety. Be observant and let a school administrator know if you see or hear something that makes you feel uncomfortable, nervous, or frightened.

Although there is no absolute guarantee that something bad will never happen, it is important to understand the difference between the possibility of something happening and probability that it will.
Tragic events nationwide have understandbly increased anxiety and concern regarding safety at school. We would like our families to know that our schools are working diligently hand-in-hand with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) to create the safest schools possible.

Lancaster School District takes all threats, whether verbal or on social media, very seriously and works closely with the Lancaster Sherff's Station to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted for everyone's safety.

It is crucial that schools and families work together to keep our children safe. Please help us by doing the following:

  • Please keep your contact information current in case we need to contact you in the event of an emergency. You may do this by logging inot your InfoSnap account or by stopping by the front office of your school.
  • Ensure that your student knows and understands the severity of making a false threat. It is difficult to tell if a comment is a joke until a thorough investigation is completed. There could be a criminal, civil, financial and administrative consequences at both the school level and the Sheriff's department level.
  • Stay connected and monitor your student's social media activities.
  • Please ensure that if you own a firearm, keep it locked in an approved storage component or locker. This is the law!
  • Reach out to teachers, staff, counselors, principals, deputies or other trained professionals if you see behavior indicative of self-harm aor harm to others.
  • If you see or hear something, SAY SOMETHING! Our schools' and community's safety is everyone's responsibility. By working, talking, and listening together  - especially with our students- we will conitnue to keep our school communitites safe.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
