Dear Jack Northrop Elementary School Families,

Welcome to the beginning of what promises to be a wonderful school year! I’m honored to serve as principal at this great school, and I'm very excited to welcome our new and returning students and families to another great year of learning. One of the things that make Jack Northrop such a special place is the sense of community; we have GREAT kids, dedicated teachers and staff, and involved and supportive families. As we embark on the journey of Distance Learning to start this school year, I'm grateful even more for our supportive families and community.

We are always striving to provide the best educational experience possible for our students, and we’ve got some exciting new opportunities here at Jack Northrop! Not only do we have a wonderful English Language Arts program, California Wonders, but we’re also beginning Twig Science in Grades TK - 5. Twig Science is a complete NGSS state adopted program, in which students investigate, design, build, and understand phenomena using a blend of hands-on, digital, video, and print resources. Students will also have the opportunity to build robots, learn computer coding, design and build machines, and solve complex and interesting problems. It’s challenging, exciting, and a lot of fun, and I’m thrilled that our students will have this opportunity!

We will continue to host many events, virtually when needed,  throughout the year, such as Open House, Back to School Night, Family Literacy Night, Family Math Night, Principals’ Coffee Club, PTO meetings, School Site Council, and English Learners Advisory Committee meetings – we hope that you can join us! You can learn about what’s happening at school on our website, weekly Parent Link messages, and monthly newsletters and flyers. Family involvement is welcomed and encouraged - I invite you to join us at our School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, and PTO meetings, and to volunteer in our virtual classrooms and at special events and activities.

We are ready to begin the 2020-2021 school year! Please know that the staff, faculty, and administration at Jack Northrop are honored that you entrust us with your children, and that we are dedicated to making this a wonderful year of learning and adventure for them! Here’s to a great school year!
