Characteristic of the Month:
Mariposa Computer Science Magnet School feels that character development is paramount in developing healthy values. It is our goal to encourage positive qualities, so that Mariposa students will develop good character, make appropriate choices, and be effective leaders. Our character building program includes a specific focus trait for each month.
Teachers work with students to identify the specific qualities that are exhibited by individuals with these traits through classroom activities, role-playing, and character analysis. Throughout the month, staff members are on the lookout for students who are exhibiting positive character in our school. Students who have exhibited these traits throughout the month are recognized from each class at our Monarch of the Month Awards Ceremony.

A Visit from a Chief Scientist at NASA, Al Bowers
On November 16th, students at Mariposa Computer Science Magnet School welcomed a special guest speaker, Mr. Al Bowers, a Chief Scientist at NASA. He shared his story of overcoming challenges in his life, as well as his educational background. He also explained current projects that are happening at NASA. The students were excited to learn about these projects and to touch an actual controller that had been on Apollo 15 when it landed on the moon! Mr. Bowers was receptive to questions and our students had many great ones for him. Thank you so much, Mr. Bowers, for visiting Mariposa Computer Science Magnet School!
