Nancy Cory opened at the beginning of the 1989/1990 school year. The first school built in Lancaster School District in about 35 years, the building was not ready for the first day of school. The first staff meeting was held in the library of El Dorado School. The staff and students were split between Sunnydale and Sierra's campuses in portable trailers. Dr. Howard Sundberg was the principal for the premiere year of the school.
The staff and students were able to move into the new building at the end of September. Our sister school, Lincoln Elementary, also opened that year on the property that they currently occupy, but made up entirely of portable buildings. Nancy Cory was the only new school with a permanent building.
