YELC is the annual Youth Environmental Leadership Conference. Students travel to Granite Hills High school where they participate in many STEM workshops. They learn about environmental issues and choose a service earning project to conduct throughout the year. Students receive a grant through MEEC that pays for their service learning project. Students then go back and present their projects at the spring YELC showcase. Students also participate in a Solar oven cook-off competition in early summer. Students have to design and construct working solar ovens that will be able to prepare a main course and dessert in their solar ovens. Students must prepare all food items at the competition.
