Facilitated IEP Process

  • What is a Facilitated IEP Meeting?

    It is an IEP meeting developed by a collaborative team whose members participate fully and share responsibility for the meeting process and results; the decision making is managed through the use of facilitation skills.

    Purpose of a Facilitated IEP Meeting:

    • Build and improve strong relationships among all team members;
    • Reach true consensus;
    • Focus the IEP content and process on the needs of the individual student;
    • Exercise an efficient, guided meeting process where effective communication and reflective listening are practiced.
  • Concerned about your child’s special educational services?

    It is important that you contact your child’s teacher or administrator to talk about your child and any problems you see. Staff at your child's school may answer questions about your child’s education, your rights, and procedural safeguards. Also, when you have a concern, this informal conversation often solves the problem and helps to maintain open communication. If you have further concerns, please feel free to contact our Special Education Office at 661-948-4661 Ext 164.
